(THIS WORKSHOP SOLD OUT IN OCTOBER 2025)
Date & Time:
probably Feburary 7th, 2026
1-5pm
DESCRIPTION:
“What!? You think I want to stand on a stage all by myself? And say words I come up with myself?” Yes. Yes, I do think you want that. And I want to be there while you give it a try.
This 4-hour one-day workshop is designed to get you out of your head, into your body, and onstage by yourself. By the end of the workshop you will have created and performed your own original one-minute solo performance piece. Exercises will put you in touch with some of your solo performance “scene partners”: your own Body, the Space, and your Audience. So even though you will be performing by yourself you will never feel alone.
Please bring/wear:
- Clothes you are comfortable moving in
- Water bottle and a small snack
- Two sentences of text, fully memorized (instructions will be sent upon registration)
- Curiosity
This workshop is intended for adults 18 and over. Enrollment is limited to 10 students.
Register by January 20th for $80 early enrollment.
Location:
Golden Gelato Artist's Residency Studio
130 W Pike St, Covington, KY 41011
About the Instructor
Erika MacDonald never thought she would want to perform her own solo work. She came to solo performance from traditional theater, starting in 2004 when she realized that she had something to say and she didn’t want to wait around for other people to give her words or permission to get on stage.
Performance work includes original solo shows Tea TIME (Artists’ Pick Encore Award, 2025 Cincinnati Fringe Festival), The Barn Identity (Best of Fest, 2023 Tampa Fringe Festival; 5 Stars, Saskatoon Star Phoenix), Evacuated! (Critics’ Pick of the Fringe Award, 2016 Cincinnati Fringe Festival), Tap Me on the Shoulder (Critics’ Choice Award: “Best Female Performer,” 2014 Orlando Fringe Festival), and FLUID (“Top Ten Hottest Plays,” Curve Magazine).
